Genesis 1:29-31 29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb producing seed that is on the whole earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree producing seed: it shall be food for you; 30and to every animal of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth on the earth, in which is a living soul, every green herb for food. And it was so. 31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning -- the sixth day.

Flesh Eating is it Okay with God?

This is an exceprt from an email I was sending a Christian friend who still consumes the flesh of animals. Some of it I gleaned from other web sites, I haven't sent it to her yet because I know she will be offended by it, I would love some insight from anyone who reads this :) thanks:

Genesis 1:29-31 29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb producing seed that is on the whole earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree producing seed: it shall be food for you; 30and to every animal of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth on the earth, in which is a living soul, every green herb for food. And it was so. 31And God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning -- the sixth day.

I think in writing this email, i have discovered that Yeshua is a vegeterian, wow thats awesome :)
look at this next scripture:

Isaiah 7:14-15

New King James Version (NKJV)
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.[a] 15 Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good.

We also find in Isaiah (7.14-15): "Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good." The first verse is often quoted by Christians for proof that Jesus was the savior, but the next verse shows that he will be a vegetarian to know the difference between right and wrong.

Leviticus 3:17

The Torah prohibits consumption of blood. Lev. 7:26-27; Lev. 17:10-14. This is the only dietary law that has a reason specified in Torah: we do not eat blood because the life of the animal (literally, the soul of the animal) is contained in the blood. This applies only to the blood of birds and mammals, not to fish blood. Thus, it is necessary to remove all blood from the flesh of kosher animals.

An egg that contains a blood spot may not be eaten.

Leviticus 7:22-27

New International Version (NIV)
Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden
22 The LORD said to Moses, 23 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats. 24 The fat of an animal found dead or torn by wild animals may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it. 25 Anyone who eats the fat of an animal from which a food offering may be[a] presented to the LORD must be cut off from their people. 26And wherever you live, you must not eat the blood of any bird or animal. 27 Anyone who eats blood must be cut off from their people.’”

Acts 15:29

You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from bloodfrom the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell

Leviticus 7:22-27   Blood and Fat, forbidden to be eaten
Fat Forbidden
22 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 23 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'You shall not eat any fat, of ox or sheep or goat. 24 And the fat of an animal that dies naturally, and the fat of what is torn by wild animals, may be used in any other way; but you shall by no means eat it. 25 For whoever eats the fat of the animal of which men offer an offering made by fire to the LORD, the person who eats it shall be cut off from his people.
Blood Forbidden

26 Moreover you shall not eat any blood in any of your dwellings, whether of bird or beast. 27 Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people.' "    NKJV

Y      However the “BLOOD was forbidden for food” at the time flesh was allowed to be eaten when Noah came out of the Ark, with the explanation of the fact that “in the blood is the life.”  [Genesis 9:3-4]

Y      This is consistent with the forbidding of blood in the law and passed on to the Gentile Church“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.”

[Leviticus 17:11] also [Genesis 9:3-4, Leviticus 3:17, 7:26-27, 17:10-14, 19:26, Deuteronomy 12:16, 23-25, 26-27, 15:23, Acts 15:20, 29, 21:25, Hebrews 9:22]

Y      Blood restriction still applies to the Church of the Gentiles. [see Acts 15:20, 29, 21:25]

Isai

"To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? Saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of goats. When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear, for your hands are full of blood."

(Isaiah1.11,15)ah 66:3 ESV / 3 helpful votes

“He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's neck; he who presents a grain offering, like one who offers pig's blood; he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like one who blesses an idol. These have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations;

Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.

The Bible has many quotations within it that can be used for both supporting meat-eating as well as against it, so people can argue either way while using quotes from the Bible. Thus, it is basically a rather inconclusive text for deciding such issues. However, those verses that support a vegetarian lifestyle are often ignored or are unknown, so we will review a few of these as can be seen from the following: "But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it." (Genesis 9.4-5)

Certainly we can see in this verse that no one was meant to live by eating the flesh and blood of others. If one did so, then he would have to pay with his own blood, as it says, "your blood of your lives will I require." This is merely a reference to the law of reciprocity for every animal who suffers because of you, you will also similarly suffer: "at the hand of every beast will I require it."

In Romans (14.20-21) the verses are: "For meat destroy not the word of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak." The word for meat here is broma, which again is a general word that meansfoods, and the word for flesh is kreas, which does mean flesh. Therefore, this verse is another that is not necessarily supportive of eating meat, but makes it clear that flesh eating is unacceptable.

In fact, the Bible compares the killing of cows to murdering a man: "He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man." (Isaiah 66.3)
There are a few verses, however, which I am sure some students of the Bible will reach for that seem to support the eating of flesh. But in every case, this is due to inaccurate translations as we shall see.

For example, in John (4.8) it states: "For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat." The word meat was taken from the Greek word trophe, which actually meansnourishment. This is exactly the same case in Acts (9.19): "And when he had received meat, he was strengthened." When translated accurately it means that by receiving nourishment, he felt stronger.

In Luke (8.55) we find, "And her spirit came again and she arose straightaway: and he (Jesus) commanded to give her meat." The word meat in this case was translated from the Greek word phago, which translated correctly simply means to eat.
In I Corinthians (8.8) it states: "But meat commendeth us not to God, for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither if we eat not, are we the worse." The word for meat here isbroma, which actually means food. Therefore, this verse signifies that eating or not eating food has little to do with our relationship to God and not, as some people think, that eating meat holds no wrong.

If the Bible explains that eating meat is wrong, then what is the proper thing to eat? Genesis (1.29) clearly states: "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." This makes it quite obvious that the recommended food for human beings is herbs, seeds, grains, and fruits.

We also find in Isaiah (7.14-15): "Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good."

This is often overlooked by the Christians, Muslims, and others. If these verses were actually understood and the meaning fully realized and practically applied by the Christians and others, I am sure it would bring beneficial reactions the world over in their spiritual development. After all, one of the ten commandments specifically says thou shalt not kill. It does not say merely thou shalt not murder, which would imply only humans, but it says "Thou shalt not kill," meaning any living being. This does not mean to say that meat-eaters cannot be Christians, but it does set a higher standard that many ignore.

meat eaters have very short intestines to pass fat quickly. humans have very long intestines designed for digesting plant matter.
God did not redesign us after the flood, we are the same as Adam and Eve.

that's enough :) take it or leave it :) it wont determine your eternal destiny. I just feel we should not pick and choose which bits of the bible we will or wont follow based on our own lusts and desires.  God tell us not to consume blood because the soul is in the blood, the life-force. I believe we reap what we sow, when we consume death and disease, we reap death and disease.

i can direct you to many pages which have the actual Greek an Hebrew texts if you want. where the word for food is replaced by meat in translation. i have no doubt the bible is the word of God my doubts are as to the validity and motives of those who translated it and continue to translate it to this day. we know the NIV is loaded with missing texts yet we still read it.  Don't think for a second I don't believe God, I do, what I don't believe is men with their ulterior motives of lust and greed..

I want you to know from a spiritual perspective, i swear this is the Gods Honest Truth : the day i went vegan I felt spiritually cleaner. I felt a huge darkness leave me, I cant do it justice in words. It was as if i had been committing a huge sin i was unaware of, and then it was gone. I want you to hear me on this. I am not a liar about this. I am telling you as my friend and sister in Christ, that this is the Truth. I don't want you to feel attacked or offended, or to think I feel spiritually superior to you, I don't. I am simply telling you what happened to me that day, was miraculous. It was Right, I felt it to my very soul. I sound kinda crazy I know, but it was like the day I got saved. A huge light illuminated my consciousness and my spirit. Its like when you get saved you realize all people, of all colors are Gods children, and racism has no place left to abide in you. This is the same, in that, you realize, all animals are the same, human, cow, chicken, pig, dog, they all have souls and they are all here for Gods Glory and they are all here to worship Him. Specisism has to go. All discrimination is evil at its core.

When i look into the eyes of a chicken, i see a soul. i see a living breathing life that will be snuffed out to fulfill someone elses lust for flesh. What if we were the chickens and they had the power to enslave, torture, rape, mutilate, kill, and eat us? I bet your stand on eating flesh would change. and that's what compassion is, its putting yourself in the victims shoes and seeing it from their perspective.  God never intended us to eat flesh, just as he never intended us to divorce. You can say aw well who cares and toss your hands in the air, but someone does care His name is Jehovah, Yeshua.

Doesn't the bible teach us to stand up for the weak? the helpless? the victims?
Doesn't the bible teach us Love and Peace? How do we as murderers obtain that?

Have you, as a Christian, really prayed about this and really sought Gods answer on this issue?  If not, then you don't have a leg to stand on in respect to the entire issue of murdering Gods creatures ...........“He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's neck; he who presents a grain offering, like one who offers pig's blood; he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like one who blesses an idol. These have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations;................

I suppose the reason i am so hyper about it is because just like the day i was saved, an epiphany was revealed to me, and now I want to share it with everyone, so just like when I was saved, I hit so much resistance from those who don't believe and dont want to hear the truth. for me its like the same struggle all over again. I am a fanatic, a nut, a zealot, crazy.

"If they hated me, they will hate you also for no servant is greater than his master" "rejoice when they say all sorts of evil against you for my sake, for great is your reward in heaven" Those are the words which give me solace in my struggle, to expose and teach the truth.

How is this (mom and baby)

Different from this? (mom and baby)

Do they Love, Think, Feel, suffer? Do they want someone to kill and eat their offspring?
What if the world was run by wolves and people were their livestock?
Would that mean human mothers didnt love and care for their babies
because some wolf said it was so?
Or that it would be ok to take the infants at birth and kill them
so the wolves could drink our breast milk?

 Jesus is Love and Compassion.
Yeshua went about doing good.

I'm sure if Jesus ate cheese, He didn't torture animals to do it,
He didn't tear babies from their mothers to do it.
And He didn't twist scripture to satisfy the lust of the flesh.

Please again don't take this as a personal attack. It isnt!
Its just like when you got saved, and nobody would listen.
Its just like that for me.  People are so resistant to change even if
its the truth of God :(

"God is coming to destroy those who are destroying the earth"
I'm surprised it doesn't say hes coming to destroy those leading the saved astray,
or those killing humans, or those committing abortions,
or those molesting kids, or those stealing,
or those worshiping idols, but nope,
it says those who are destroying the earth.
Who are they?
Meat eaters.
Those who consume and consume
without a thought or care
of what they are doing.

Examples:
a single hog excretes up to 17.5 pounds of manure and urine each day. Put 1,000 hogs together, and that’s six million pounds of waste each year. On a factory farm containing 35,000 hogs, over four million pounds of waste are produced each week, and over 200 million pounds each year. i Whereas on a sustainable farm animal waste can be a tool, in factory-farm amounts it becomes a major pollutant.

Factory farms emit harmful gases and particles such as methane and hydrogen sulfide, which can contribute to global warming and harm the health of those living or working nearby. Air pollution results from the overuse of machinery, the mismanagement of manure, and the irresponsible feeding practices that characterize industrial farming.
Chemical fertilizers and pesticides have turned agriculture into a leading source of water pollution in the United States. Runoff from factory farms kills fish, degrades aquatic habitats and threatens drinking water supplies. Additionally, factory farms use tremendous amounts of water, which cuts into our precious supplies of water that are not contaminated.

  • In the United States, approximately 40 percent of all chemical fertilizers used eventually break down into ammonia and are released into the atmosphere.xvi
  • The EPA reports that the waste generated by animal agriculture has polluted over 35,000 miles of river in 22 states.xvii
  • Researchers from the Department of Economics at the University of Essex put the annual cost of environmental damage caused by industrial farming in the United States at $34.7 billion. xviii
Inevitably, intensive animal agriculture depletes valuable natural resources. Instead of being eaten by people, the vast majority of grain harvested in the U.S. is fed to farm animals. This wasteful and inefficient practice has forced agribusiness to exploit vast stretches of land. Forests, wetlands, and other natural ecosystems and wildlife habitats have been decimated and turned into crop and grazing land. Scarce fossil fuels, groundwater, and topsoil resources which took millenium to develop are now disappearing.
Meanwhile, the quantity of waste produced by farm animals in the U.S. is more than 130 times greater than that produced by humans. Agricultural runoff has killed millions of fish, and is the main reason why 60% of America's rivers and streams are "impaired". In states with concentrated animal agriculture, the waterways have become rife with pfiesteria bacteria. In addition to killing fish, pfiesteria causes open sores, nausea, memory loss, fatigue and disorientation in humans. Even groundwater, which takes thousands of years to restore, is being contaminated. For example, the aquifer under the San Bernadino Dairy Preserve in southern California contains more nitrates and other pollutants than water coming from sewage treatment plants.

“A single dairy cow produces about 120 pounds of wet manure per day, which is equivalent to the waste produced by 20–40 people. That means California’s 1.4 million dairy cows produce as much waste as 28–56 million people.”
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Notes from Underground, Fall 2001

Cant really call yourself a humanitarian either :(

65% of all grain produced is used to feed livestock,
while human beings starve to death.

Below is a bumper sticker i made :)

so take all as you please, none of it is an attack on you, if you feel defensive ask yourself why.
No need to feel defensive if your not doing anything wrong.

I guess my goal is to educate and to break through the walls,
the layers of brainwashing that
we as Americans have been exposed to for years and years.

Your father was right on this issue, prophetic even.
That dollar menu item that makes your mouth and gut so happy,
is at the expense of human lives, and come as a result of the torture
of other sentient living beings, it depletes and contaminates
environmental resources and it is a crime against creation.

all dollar menu beef is 3-5 year old dairy cattle who have been kept perpetually
pregnant through use of "The rape rack"
their offspring are taken away the day they are born.
They are literally milked to death and
while pregnant go to slaughter at 5 yrs old because
they are physically depleted (a pro-lifer should have a problem with that)
while their natural life span is 25 yrs.
The aborted babies are used to make suede, lovely.
When if given a chance a cow would never abandon her babies.
But hey Mr. Wolf says "they are less than us, not as important;
therefore, we are justified in causing them to suffer to obtain our ends."
(sounds like something a Nazi would say)

We as humans have a responsibility given to us by God
to care for creation, not to participate in its destruction.
